Note:

This guitar sounded very tinny at first. I didn't originally scallop the x-braces and tone bars, but the soundhole at the cutaway allowed me to get my arm inside the guitar enough to shape the braces while the guitar was strung up. After some work on the braces, it now sounds like an OK small body guitar.

Mostly made from scrap wood. The top is from a 2x4 that had some interesting grain and what I think is mineral staining. When slices of the 2x4 were assembled in book-matched pairs, they created a feather-like pattern.

  • 2x4 top
  • 3 piece back (cherry, butcher block oak, walnut)
  • Bass side walnut, treble side cherry
  • Soundhole at cutaway
  • Neck made from an old mahogany ski
  • Backstrap that flows into the neck (veneer on back of headstock)
  • Book-matched headstock veneer
  • Side soundport
  • Herringbone purfling on top
  • Laminated bridge
